Culinary Southern Fyn have for centuries been a source of traditional produce and food production. Such products are still available from the orchard road stalls, at farm shops, on the weekly market day and in Svendborg´s speciality shops.
In general South Fyn is known for its large selection of eateries, fine hotel restaurants, pleasant inns, restaurants in converted warehouses, in castles and in a old windmill.
There is a food fair every saturday 8 -13 at the City Square in Centrum.
Each year, Svendborg plays host to Northern Europe´s largest food fair and producers´market called Kulinarisk Sydfyn. Here the motto is "Food with attitude" and more than 150 producers set up stalls offering the very best of slow food, organic and local produce - and there are loads of free samples to taste of chocolate, bread, salamis, cheeses, fish, beer and much more.
Much of the produce you can taste at the festival is local produce from around the archipelago, Islanders discovered long ago the importance of focussing on high quality and the special local characteristic.
A selctio of this produce is available for purchase at the shop by the Maritime Center. You can also visit the local producers who will be more than pleased to welcome you in.
