Day 1 – Afternoon and Evening

Explore Svendborg on a two-hour leisurely stroll through the city’s charming streets. Experience the maritime harbour atmosphere with ferries and beautiful wooden ships, browse the specialty shops, and enjoy the view of the marina in the spring sunshine.

Combine the walk with a stroll along the Christiansminde Path to the scenic area of Christiansminde. If you are interested in art, follow the path up into the forest and visit Galleri DGV, which exhibits Danish and international art with a beautiful view of Svendborg Sound.

End the day with a gastronomic experience at the nearby restaurant at Hotel Christiansminde, or at one of the city’s other restaurants where local ingredients add flavour to the menu.

Day 2

Start the day with breakfast where you are staying, or enjoy brunch at one of the city’s cafés. Afterwards, visit a museum – for example the Danish Welfare Museum (Danmarks Forsorgsmuseum), which offers guided tours during Easter week.

Grab a sandwich from one of the city’s bakeries and enjoy it in the nature surrounding Svendborg. Head to Troense on the island of Tåsinge, which is connected to Funen by bridge, and take a walk among the protected half-timbered houses from the 18th century. Continue along Slotsalléen to the impressive Valdemar’s Castle, and if your legs are up for it, walk further along the water to Nørreskoven and the memorial stone marking the place where Elvira Madigan and Sixten Sparre were found.
