Skarø is located at the entrance to Svendborgsund and is one of the smaller islands in The South Fyn Archipelago. Despite its size, the island offers varied scenery, cultural heritage and a vibrant local community. The 7 km bike route provides an enjoyable introduction to the island and its surroundings.

The route starts at Skarø Havn and follows small roads along the coast towards the island’s easternmost point. Along the way, there are views across the sea and neighbouring islands. The ride then continues along the southern coastline, where the close connection to the water shapes the landscape.

From the coast, the route passes through Skarø By, the island’s main village and social centre. Here, cyclists can stop at Skarø Is, known for its ice cream products, or visit Sommersild Gårdbutik, which sells products made from the island’s organic Gutefår sheep.

The tour continues towards the western end of the island through open countryside. Along the way, fields, coastal scenery and the characteristic light of the archipelago create a varied experience before the route returns through the village to the harbour.

Skarø is also known for its active local community, which includes arts and crafts, cultural events, a museum and a marina. Combined with the island’s natural surroundings and local food producers, this creates a distinctive island atmosphere that can be experienced throughout the route.
