Cycling Route: Valdemars Slot Route – 20.2 km
Explore a scenic cycling route from Svendborg to Tåsinge, where historic villages, castles and coastal scenery await. This 20.2 km ride combines nature, culture and panoramic views across Svendborg Sound.
The route starts at Svendborg Harbour and crosses the Svendborgsund Bridge to Tåsinge. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views across the sound before reaching the historic seafaring village of Troense, known for its well-preserved 18th-century timber-framed houses and maritime heritage.
From Troense, the route continues to Valdemars Slot (castle), one of Denmark's largest privately owned castle estates, beautifully located by the water. Nearby stands the more than 400-year-old Ambrosiuseg, named after the poet Ambrosius Stub, who worked at the estate and found inspiration in the surrounding landscape.
The ride continues past Nørreskoven, where nature and history meet. The area is closely associated with the story of Elvira Madigan and Sixten Sparre. Before returning to Svendborg, the route passes Bregninge Church, offering fine views across the South Funen countryside.
