Go back in time to the Funen open-air museum - with rural structures from the 18th and 19th century - a complete village environment has been recreated, with half-timbered buildings, fences, farm animals, a village pond and a village street. The entire village is surrounded by cultivated land. The museum tells the story of life in the country around the 1850s and includes artefacts from the time.

Explore life in the 18th and 19th-century, when people in the country lived together in small communities and led self-sufficient lives. This is further told through the living history programme, as volunteers perform the roles as cooks, horse-drawn carriage drivers, field workers, candle makers, goose girls and many more! When you visit the village, you can interact with these characters as they go about doing their daily chores, to create the right atmosphere for you!
This environment is also what inspired many of Hans Christian Andersen’s popular fairy tales.

Witness agriculture as it is practised using traditional methods! - with many activities and living history during the holidays. At the Funen open-air museum, you are out in the open country, while still being close to the city centre of Odense.

Please note that opening hours may differ during holidays, visit their website.
Children and youth under the age of 18 are admitted free of charge.
